the cleaning ladies do a great job -the water pressure is INSANE! -the food was fresh.

We cannot day enough great things about them. There were definitely some good things: -the staff. And we also understand that there’s a huge pandemic going on but we booked prior to any of that happening and decided to go ahead with our trip. We understand that certain things are different when you’re on an all inclusive. We’ve travelled to multiple resorts in the past but this was our first time to Mexico. How extremely and hugely disappointed we were. Being a trip advisor top hotel for 2019, an 8/10 experience rating, and being rated a four star we were excited for our trip as a family of four with two little ones. If you have already booked your trip and are used to nice clean resorts I highly suggest changing resorts now.We booked this trip after reading great reviews and looking at multiple sites for peoples experiences. Sunwing refunded us for the Samba part of our trip and once we arrived at the Riu we forgot all about this terrible place. We have a video if anyone would like to see it please email me. Dark brown water flowing from the taps and showers. No grout, all stained and chipped and the last most important detail - BROWN WATER. No roof so when it rains at night have fun! The bathrooms looked like a scene from a horror movie. So many locals with wild untamed kids The stage was outside on a piece of wood with broken curtains and you had to sit on lawn chairs. The resort itself was smaller than a Holiday Inn in Canada or Best Western.

The food was open and swarmed by bugs and birds. Main points: The pools (AKA Pool) Was way smaller than it appears in the picture and the water was Green. There were 4 traveleres in my party and we all decided after one night at this resort to move over to the Riu and pay almost 400$ more per person to get away from this hole in the ground. And like the title says this is the WORST resort I have ever been to. Including Cuba, Dominican, Mexico, Costa Rica and much more. I am pretty sure they pay people to write reviews on here! I have been down south over 20 times. Well as much as I want to write a 10 page review and let all of you potential travelers in on the details this resort isnt even worth my time. we would recommend the samba to anyone looking for a low key, quiet resort. kids club was really good too, all the activities people spoke English and Spanish fluently. drinks were good, we had very friendly bartenders at the pool bar and the lobby bar. seriously, the mexican coffee was amazing! one night we ate at the buffet, but our waiter (alejandro, I think) made us a special coffee anyways. the Mexican a la carte restaurant is fantastic! and it's right on the ocean with a great view of the sunset. and the rooms were adjoining, which gave us 4 rooms when we opened the middle door. our rooms were huge! each family had a suite (rooms 435 and 437) with big bedrooms, kitchenettes, living areas, and two bathrooms. we had a private taxi waiting to take us to the resort, and the same for our return trip on the day of our departure. We booked with WestJet vacations, who were awesome. We travelled with our two children, as well as our friends and their two children. If it wasn't for Fermin, Martin, Salvador's, Carlos, Bruno, Ernesto, Lori, and too many others to mention, we would definitely not pay the prices they ask for to return. We truly have called this our home away from home but sorry to say we may hesitate to return.

The food is so so, deserts need help, and bring back the entertainment staff, they were fabulous. And, there are no fridges in the rooms and bottled water (2) in your room is all you get, in a country where it is not recommended you drink tap water, so warm is what you will get. Balconies need to be repaired (missing rails). Rooms need new bedding, curtains and furniture. While it is VERY clean and grounds are beautiful, they desperately need to update. In the 14 years we have been going we have seen many changes, not all of them positive. That's why we keep going back, we have made some awesome friends. They are amazing and will bend over backwards to make you happy. Here it goes: if you are looking for the best staff anywhere you are looking at the right resort. We are not fancy people just your average working class who have travelled all around the globe mostly in Mexico. My husband and I have been going to Samba for 14 years, the most recent visit in September.
